Exhibition at NOTA SHOP, Shigaraki, Japan

In April and May of this year, I was invited to exhibit at NOTA_SHOP gallery in Shigaraki, Japan. NOTA SHOP, owned by Shunsuke Kato and Kayoko Kato, combines a gallery, a delicately crafted ceramic production studio, and a design studio specializing in graphic design and custom interior design solutions.

For this exhibition, they invited me to present my work, "Changing Seasons," a large textile installation measuring 14.5 by 3.5 meters. Mounting such a large piece in their gallery was a challenge for all of us. We installed it in sections, creating a dynamic interaction with the gallery space and a large ceramic installation featuring carefully selected items from their collection.

We also set up an exhibition area with artifacts from my workshop, framed textile art pieces, limited-edition handwoven bags, and a warp installation. Additionally, we screened a film by Maya Matsuura that documents the process behind my work over the past four years.

Our hosts, Shunsuke and Kayoko Kato, are incredibly talented and have created a beautiful art space well worth a visit when traveling in Japan. They organized a wonderful opening event, drawing in many enthusiastic and curious visitors throughout the exhibition period.

I am honored and grateful for their invitation and am pleased I accepted the challenge of bringing my large installation all the way to Japan. Together, we look forward to future collaborations and new adventures.
